Re inappropriate threads & Duetto/coil

This is not a judgment, just an observation : On this list and every other
I am on, individuals request that a thread be dropped as inappropriate
*after* they have stated their opinions on that inappropriate topic (as if
offering the final definitive comment to tie it all together.)

OK, maybe that is a judgment.

Re a '66 Duetto with electronic ignition : during race and 20 minute hot
laps, engine exhibits missing at straightaway speeds and high RPM. This
condition is almost momentary and often subtle but did get worse at end of
30 minute race this weekend. All the way home there was not a hint of this
condition. It only occurs on the track and in straights. ( otherwise
engine pulls beautifully at 7500RPM and beyond for relatively short periods.

Might this be a coil problem? (BTW, my present coil is mounted in a heat
sink.)

The Bosch Blue is commonly advertised by Alfa suppliers. PEGASAS racing
supplies also sells a more expensive Lucus which it claims will not wimp
out at high RPM as does the Bosch.

After speaking to Dan Wilke of YARD RACING in Milwaukee, I am informed that
a NAPA supplied Ekland coil is inexpensive and very very reliable. He has
used these coils on his Shelbys for years; they commonly run (not cruise)
at 8500RPM.

As a possible point of interest : he uses Goodyear Aqua treads in the
rain. Clocked at over 150MPH in torrential rain at Road America. Says
they slice through anything including standing water common at RA.
