I've got an '84 w/ the same problem. While getting it inspected the guy took 
off the old sticker with one of those scraper things and cut my antenna...I 
am probably just going to replace the windshield anyway.  The '84s (mine 
anyway) came with an Alpine stereo system...my guess would be to call them.
