Plastic Stone protection

In New Zealand we have used a 3M product to stop stone chips for quite a few
years. The product is available in a do-it your-self pack under the trade
name "Body Skins" it is similar to the tape used on leading edges of
aircraft wings known as 100mph tape. Although a little thinner and clearer.

Only recently we have started to get the stick on headlight protectors known
as "light skins"

I have used it on my last car and on my 164. The plastic covers the front of
the bonnet on both sides of the grill, the painted part under the grill and
the Zender Body Kit all the way around to the front of the wheels. It is not
really possible to do the front of the bumper as you can't get the plastic
into the horizontal grooves. If you don't have a body kit you should still
get very good results on the lower half of the bumper.

Although you can see a thin line where the plastic ends if you are looking
for it this is not visible from more than say 2 meters away from the car.

I would never try to put the Body Skins on myself it is a very tricky
operation best left to someone with a lot of experience.

In NZ it costs aboutUS$60 to have the front of the car done. And about $30
for the lights
