someone mentioned disabling a fuel pump to prevent theft.  what about
disconnecting a battery terminal?  for most thieves a car that won't
start immediately means moving on to the next one, not getting under the
hood (or trunk lid) to find the problem.

one of the overpriced car trinket catalogs i have has a device that
connects between the terminal and battery.  to disable the battery you
simply unscrew a large knob that breaks  the connection
