Gear Oils

I would like to hear from the collective wisdom of the digest, is worth it
or not to change the gear oil in my 84 GTV6 with Red Line. Is it really the
best stuff in the world or does it slowly destroy the car from the inside?
No real current problems, it does crunch a bit from 3 to 2 if I get in too
much of a hurry though!
