That sucks. I'm glad you weren't injured. 

My '78 was hit and effectively totalled out in January so I know what you
mean, it's very jarring. 

The insurance company was willing to compensate me for about $4000 plus I
kept ownership of the car, not totalled as salvage. That was about the
best I could do as they wouldn't total it. 

If they've totalled yours, you should be able to demand an equivalent
value replacement. Use your receipts to back up such a demand. That was my
next course of inquiry until I decided to build a better Spider from the
three that I had.
