JThw8@domain.elided,try a sure start to replace the TA

Greetings Alfisti,
For the gentleman bemoaning the cost of a rebuilt thermostatic
actuator,I concur with your dilemma;and offer a potential solution for it.
Try a Shankle Sure start;it's a cable thingie that replaces the
thermostatic actuator. The sure start attaches to the hand throttle, pull the
throttle out to start, when the car is warmed up push it back in.replaces the
"iffy" TA, and it costs $69.00 from AR Ricambi.(Although I ordered one from
them on March 4th, it's now March 28th and I've yet to see hide nor hair of
the item in question;AND they've already cashed the money order.)I'd try and
see if Bill Harkell at Maestro Subaru Alfa has one, he's a regualr poster to
the digest,he's got a website and delivers what he sells at a fair price.I
faced the same problem as you,a new TA would have been nice but I can't afford
the price either.TA's are entirely too expensive.
Hope this helps,
