Increased diameter ignition wires and 164

I made before sparkplug wires out of performance 8mm Accel wire sold by the
foot in packages for 8 cylinder engines.It was sufficient in one $60 box for
both my previous car and my actual 164.The tricky part is that one has to
reuse the existing BOSCH   connectors.All those wires can be disconnected from
the cables themselvs.By example, the wire end at the 164 at the spark plug
end, unscrews from the rubber plug itself.There's a threaded wire-end
connector.
Ok, i'll get to the point.I did this with the 164, then measured the
resistance of the Accel conversion and of the original OEM.I had 20% more
resistance.
Upto now i thought that my manufacture quality was to blame.But now that Bill
says that the resistance IS increased even with the Magnecors, my question is:
How does increased resistance help improve performance?
