PCV valve

My 71 SPider has Webers mounted.  These were mounted using a proper
carburetor manifold, not a converted Spica manifold.  I have a vent off
the cam cover that has no place to go.  I currently have this blocked off
with a plate.  My question is how did the other than USA cars handle the
PCV function?  Do the mom USA cars of this era have a vent in the cam
cover?
