Dublin Alfa Boutique & other
When I heard the Alfa Boutique was opening in Dublin I made sure I was
there the night after. I fancied maybe a nice belt or watch etc..
What a dissapointment. Apart from the prices 35.00 pounds for a keyring,
200.00 pounds for a bag that was neither a womans handbag nor a mans
briefcase..I wont even mention the watches.
I dont mind paying money for decent goods, but each item had an Alfa
Romeo name on it that was smaller than the words "Swiss Made" or
"Quartz" on most watches and the belts which were supposed to have the
Alfa Grille shield as its buckle was more like a horeshoe than anything
else!.
Also LJK Setright is no longer writing for "CAR" since this Month, I
believe.Maybe his facial hair got in the way.
I just read an article about the new 156 "Selespeed" with the F1
style sequential gearbox buttons on the steering wheel. Everyone was
impressed all round saying its even faster than a standard
manual.-figures!. One point was if cornering through a tight chicane for
e.g you lose your position on the steering and have to revert back to
the floor mounted gear shift, which apparantly works opposite to the way
the mind might see it i.e push forward to shift to a higher gear etc.
One interesting thing is that they have reverted to a standard "H"
shift on the "Tiptronic" 156 with the 190BHP 2.5 V6 Motor. Nobody it
seems has tested this so who knows!.
By the way thanks to all who answered my 168 query-now I can sleep!
