DeDion Bushing Bolt

Share with me your horror stories.

Tonight, while taking the gear cluster out of my Milano, I decided to
remove the DeDion cross member. Why, I have no idea, I guess it sounded
like a good idea at the time. I put a propane on the nut end of the
DeDion bolt for a few minutes and then torqued on the bolt. Took a bit,
but I started to get some movement. After about a 1/4 turn I finally
noticed that only the head of the bolt was turning. I've got a bad
feeling that I've twisted the bolt.

I don't want to even think about having to remove the DeDion tube. So I
figure if I ignore it, it will never have happened.

On the realistic side, can anyone share some experiences dealing such an
experience?

Thanks
