RE: GTV6 engine upgrade options? (hp) (cost)

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++
?!? if luke measured 215hp w/a g-tech, my understanding of these devices is
that they measure rwhp - if so, he's getting almost 270hp at the crank!!!
(assuming 20% drive-line loss). or perhaps, he measured 172rwhp, and he figured
215hp, assuming 20% drive-line loss. ya mite wanna ask him about this; i'd be
interested.

as a stock (early) 164-s is rated at 200hp vs 183hp for the regular 164, & 188hp
for the werde milano, and is no different than a regular 164 or werde, except
for a more domed piston, to increase compression (i dunno the compression ratios
- - anyone?), and the 's' cam; even only a 10% power increase due to a gnu ecu/afm
would get you 220 hp...

i can only assume the 5hp difference between the standard 164 & the werde is due
to exhaust config - mebbe an s-cammed 3.0 in a werde gets 205hp? mebbe the
exhaust config in the gtwe6 is also less restrictive than the 164?

also, as far as labor goes, my mechanic quoted me a charge of 12-15 hours to
remove my old engine from my gtwe6, install a 3.0, make any misc fitment
adjustments, and get it running.

ciao for now,

doug s
