SZ & SZ2 - TZ & TZ2 - Carrozzeria Galbiati

Hi Folks!

There has been a bit of discussion about modern remakes of the immortal
Sprint Zagato & Tubolare Zagato Alfas lately on the digest.

Dave Gooley and I always make a point to stop by Carrozzeria Galbiati when
in the Milano area-it's always worthwhile. They are the official Carrozzeria
of the resuscitated Zagato company, and are located in Roh (where it is
possible to get lost for hours, if not the whole day).

Galbiati will make you a gorgeous remanufactured SZ/SZ2 or TZ/TZ2 actually
superior in quality to the original using either a chassis supplied by you
or one they have stockpiled in the "wrecking yard" out back (you'll be hard
put to find a more exotic wrecking yard anywhere in the world I
venture-stacks of 1900 Zagato Specials, ES & RS30 Alfas and the usual gaggle
of special bodied Lancias and Ferrari's and so forth...).

The quality of the remanufactured product is beyond reproach-and they will
also source and install a powertrain of your choosing for any of their
special bodied "replicas". I hesitate to use the word "replica" because
these are the folks that originally manufactured the special bodied Alfas of
yore for Zagato originally.

Price for a Sprint Zagato Series One body (you supply the chassis and
powertrain) starts at about 35K US and the TZ Series One is about 40K
US-priced as of November last year-and the price goes up from there
depending on powertrains and other modifications you desire.

Galbiati also did the body modifications for the factory of the original
Giulietta Spider 750G (Lightweight Spider Veloce Monoposto-the Mille Miglia
variant). The last time I visited them they had a real car with a real
serial number they had just finished re-doing for Museo Storico. Not the
Sanesi Mille Miglia car, but another from the same year.

When you consider just how expensive a flawless restoration of one of these
vehicles can be, the Galbiati option begins to look more and more
attractive. And for the price you're getting a recreation of an original
that absolutely cannot be faulted in workmanship and lineage down to the
finest details.

Something to think about...

Happy Motoring!!
