i had an interesting conversation with larry, at ape, a couple of years ago.
by his estimates, half of all alfa's sold in the usa were sold in
california, and half of those went to the bay area, with the other half
going to the la area (roughly).

he estimated 15,000 alfa's in the bay area, as of two years ago.  certainly
enough to provide him with a steady supply of material, and a market.

i think the results of discussion on the digest back then was that there
were *probably* forty to fifty thousand alfa's remaining in the states.

oh, one other piece of hard data - paul glynn requested a list of all
registered alfa's from the mass registry of motor vehicles, before they
discontinued the practice of selling those lists.  there were around 1100
registered alfa's in mass as of a couple of years ago.
