Engine swap

Hello,
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to install a cylinder head from a 
1979 Alfetta GT on a '73 2000GTV block? Both engines appear to be the 
same, except for the Alfetta's additional hoses and different-appearing 
block and oil pan. Would the cams have to be repositioned to the cam cap 
markings on the '73GTV?  Could the block with pistons et al be used, and 
then just eliminate the Alfetta's attached engine emissions parts? Also, 
even though the transmission and rear axle are a unit, can the 
transmission parts(gears, shafts,etc.)be removed and installed in the 
'73's gearbox?  Any kind of advice, technical or otherwise, would be 
greatly appreciated.  Thanks for all your help.  Samantha"wishing I were
