Rich idling Duetto(?)

Hi,
I have been reading the digest for a while, but this is my first
submission.

I have a -66 Duetto, imported to Norway from USA about 3 years ago. I
know nothing about its history, but it seems like it has been standing
unused for quite a while before it arrived Norway. When I got the car,
the oil consumption was quite excessive, but after a while it was
reduced to acceptable. The car has Webers.

My problem is that the engine seems to idle very rich. When revved after
just a short while of idling, black smoke is coming out of the tailpipe
coloring the tail of the car. The car breaks the spark plugs, so I have
to use one step warmer plugs than specified. When driven slowly with
very little throttle, it also misfires slightly. Otherwise the engine is
easy starting and pulls very well from the bottom. The oil pressure is
fine.

Anybody out there having good suggestions ?
