I suspect the tires on your car are just too tall.  The OEM tire was a 185/70
x 14.  On 14 inch wheels I've used 195/65 x14 and had no problems.  I have
also seen and 205/60 x 14's and the owners have told me they don't rub.
However, when Alfa upgraded to 15 inch wheels on Spiders in the early 90's the
went to a 195/60x15.  205/60x15 are probably just too tall and too wide for
your car.  If 195/60's are too small for you 205/55x15 might work. 

Keep in mind that taller tires make your gearing taller and change (lower) the
spedometer reading too.
