Footnote to the Alfetta "Special Editions"

While running through piles of old paper looking for anything on the 15 x 7
Ronals Colin asked about I came across some late '79/early'80 stuff related to
the Special Edition Alfettas offered in the USA. A "Parts and Accessories
Bulletin" dated 10 October 1979 offered dealers "New Alfetta steel wheels
removed from brand new cars at Alfa Romeo port facility as part of our special
edition series are now available for sale" for uses as snow-tire wheels at a
price of $30 for a set of four, complete with hubcaps and lugnuts. Other
bulletins a few weeks later offered promotional prices on the wheels, new
radios removed from vehicles at port, and a laundry-list of most of the
goodies found on the late "Special Editions" - radios, antennas, speakers,
digital clocks, rear window washer and wiper kits, fog light guard brackets,
Tornado mirrors, all offered with additional price incentives and not
returnable. Haven't found the flares and super-spoilers yet, but ARI was
certainly bringing in entry-level cars to trick-out with goodies as USA
Alfetta sales wound down.
