continuing 164 problems

Thanks to everyone who has helped with both our 164 problems (battery
drain and idle problem). Both are as yet unsolved but we're
concentrating on the idle problem as this is actually stopping us
from using the car (can't even drive it to a workshop).

As suggested we have checked both the "idle control
valve" and the "coolant sensor".

We got a brand new coolant sensor and connected it up (out of the
car) with no different results. So I figured it is not this.

We cleaned out the ICV with WD40 and put it back after which the car
now revs straight to 3000rpm instead of idling. So we got a
replacement (second hand) ICV and put it on... same thing!

So the problem we now have is that as soon as the engine starts, it
revs itself straight up to 3000 rpm (bad for a cold engine!) and
because the 164 is automatic we don't want to try driving it.

Any ideas?!

Thanks,
