Sounds like a good idea. I think 105s are well into the "drive on the
weekend" phase of life. Although, at least you can buy a panel for
your car - the same can't be said about the 116 GTV/GTV6s!

The 2.5 litre was the factory supplied motor - many have converted
to 3 litre. BTW, Foley Alfa at Alexandria advertise that they do the
conversion
to 3 litre.

The price for a respectable model will depend on the year.Special
editions like the Grand Prix fetch a premium.

The best place I know to guage what the market value is by checking
the Trading Post (www.tradingpost.com.au). You can search for
the model for all editions and get an idea what the prices are like
interstate too.

There have been many GTV6s appear for under A$10k in the past
few months, but they have been a little rough. I would expect about
A$12-15 for a good one and a little higher for a Grand Prix... but
not many of them are for sale!

The main things to look out for is rust, Rust and RUST! :-))
Rockers, bottom of front guards, around bottom edges of all
glass, front inner guards (near A frame), and tailgate are
favourite nesting places for the 116 coupe's tin worms. Oh,
and the usual oil in the water/2nd gear synchro too...

One more thought - what type of daily driving do you do?
If you are in a lot of traffic, I will suggest you look at a
2 litre 116 coupe also - lighter, more nimble, more fuel
efficient. I travel 80km each day though traffic and with
the current summer temperatures, I also would suggest
making sure the A/C is working well... the raked glass
of the Alfetta GTVs really catch a lot of sun.
