Over time the result of such mergers is often cross-platform development a
la Jag S type/ Lincoln LS's or Saab/ GM V6's. How long would it take for
suburbia to fill with Alfa Turbo Wagons, mud flaps, body cladding, raised
suspension and all?

OTOH, Bertone did design some Volvo coupes, there was the p1800, heck, Volvo
even had a 164 in the 70's!

there is next to no product overlap and Volvo's solid dealer
and distribution system would allow Fiat a way back into the U.S. market.
