Leaking oil filler caps

Once more regarding the mistaken idea that the oil filler caps leak.  They
don't, its the surface te rubber gasket sits on that needs attention.  Just
one scratch across its surface is enough to allow oil to flow along the
scratch to fill #1 plug well in a short time.  The deeper the scratch the
more oil will flow.  You may think that the rubber gasket will fill the void
but it cannot be forced down into such a narrow valley.  The cure is a
simple block sander that will make the cam cover surface flat and with very
fine grit polish it to a shine.   Result, NO LEAKS!  Fred Di Matteo
