Subject: 164 ignition switch

Had this happen with my GTV6 6mos ago. Bad enough that it wouldnt turn
at all. I called a locksmith who took a dentists pick and alot of WD-40
to the cylinders and tumblers and in about 5minutes had the key turning
beautifully. Cost me $65 for this bit of wisdom. But he said to
occassionaly lube it this way and dont have a key chain with a million
keys on it or this exacerbates the prob.

Good luck,

"Hello everyone,

My 91 164 is giving me a bit of trouble with the ignition switch. The
tumbler seems to get stuck and I have to play with the key to get it to
turn, sometimes for only a couple of seconds sometimes for ten minutes!!

I figure I'll have to replace the lock, is this hard and can I get one
with
the same key I have now?

anyone else experience this problem? Any help greatly appreciated.

Curtiss Norheim"
