RE Speedo just quit...

Yes, My 90 Spider Speedo cable just quit too.  Seems the heat and 
90 degree bend in the cable neat the cat converter did it in.  
Bruce's Parts Bin in NJ was great in supplying a replacement, but the 
new cable was not lubricated.  I seem to remember that graphite is 
the way to go, but the one that I took out was covered with much more 
than graphite.  HELP!!!!  What lube do I use?
