I think it was/is Domenic with the Alfa that stumbles, anyway, if it turns 
out not to be a fuel delivery problem, you might look at or change the 
distributor cap.  Electricss often behave differently under differing 
loads.  Your problem could be as simple as a new dit. cap or plug wires 
(used to watch the light show from the plug wires on a 300K Ford Ranger 
Pick-em-up-truck....).
