re: Brake wear

Acutally, it's normal for front brakes to wear faster than rear brakes.
The reason for this is weight transfer. The force exerted on the car by
deceleration transfers weight from the rear wheels to the front wheels--the
greater the braking force that is applied, the greater the weight
transfer.  In addition, most cars are heavier in the front to begin with;
that is, the weight distribution is biased toward the front, so braking
adds to the imbalance that exists under static conditions. It's for these
reasons that the front brakes in most cars are bigger than the rears (and
that some manufacturers can get away with using drums in the rear to save
money).
