Milano oil changes

Greetings Alfisti!
For the gentleman who has trouble changing their oil filter in their Milano;I
can sympathise with your frustrations. That oil filter is a Bugger to get to!
The easiest way to change the oil is to remove the air box on the right
side of the car.Pop the silver top off, remove the air filter (good time to
check it,by the way). Take a 13mm socket on a long extension and remove the
bolts securing the air box to the fender. You now have better access to the oil
filter.USE the Alfa Romeo factory oil filter, you should'nt have much problem
getting the filter on and off (unless you crank them down with a death grip,
as I have done a time or two, much to my detriment).Used to use the Fram PH7
filter, but it is huge and hard to manuver around in the hole. Also,I remember
seeing an exhibit of different oil filters;the Alfa filter has a higher number
of filter elements than a similar fram, Purolator or Bosch filter.Factory is
the way to go on the oil filter.Check to make sure that you don't
inadvertently unplug any wires or hoses while changing the filter.
Or, you could do as I do and find an oil change place that will do it for
you.The Grease Monkey in Dumfries VA changes my oil;I bring the oil and
filter, and they do it for me for $20.00.I do this because they have the right
socket to get the pan plug off, they clean my windows and vacuum the car,and
most importantly they let me go down into their oil pit and check the
underside of my car.(Check brake pad wear, tire wear, check the diff
oil, etc.)This extension of courtesy is probably more the exception than the
norm, but they do a good job and they are all car guys/girls(one girl works
there, she changes the filters and looks great doing it!) as well.I had to
show them the procedure when I first brought the car in for them, but they
don't mind doing my oil changes and they do a quality job. They get a kick out
of working on something other than the other garden variety automobiles they
see every day.
My 2 cents worth,
