115 Spider Rear View Mirror Removal

     I cannot figure out how to remove the rear view mirror from the
windshield of a late model spider.  There is a tab on the back side that does
not seem to do anything.  And there are no holes I can find for a screwdriver
or allen wrench.  Any suggestions other than just grabbing it and twisting it
off (which might be the answer, but I hesitate).
