I removed all of this on mine also. The tail "spoiler' comes off if you get a thin
sharp spatula or knife and carefully pry/cut it off (it also has three screws in the 
center section and maybe one on the the sides)

yes I did mine. You can separate the painted part from the black part, that makes
them easy to paint. Mine were messed up from rock chips.

that is exactly what I did on the one that broke. I replaced all the badges on
mine except for these two because they were in the best shape and are the
most expensive. But I did use new rubber gaskets (1-2$ each).
