valve shims

Heres a longshot.  Im in the unenviable position of needing valve shims
that are thinner than available form stock.  I have seen many older Alfas
with shims that have been ground thinner, but Im thinking there must be
something from some other car that is available.  Maserati? Some large
bore motorcycle?  Any ideas out there?.  (Short of redoing the head, which
will have to wait until next summer)  Thanks in advance
