72 dpi jpgs can hide a multitude of horrors!!!!! Better than pancake make-up!

Well, let's see. Guy didn't even want to give me a price. Asked how soon I
wanted the car done. I sadi a few months. He said, "I can start on it in
July. Want me to put you down for it?" Uhhhhh... How much is this going to
cost? Scratch paper and paint=splattered calculator come out... 1000 bucks
for materials (polyurethane paint and all...we're just talking about paint
so far), 500 clams for sandblasting, 6500 smackers for labor -we're still
just talking paint (in and out)....I'm losing my balance at this point.
Then we talk briefly about the bodywork. Rework the nose (hopefully mount a
new upper nose), rework the left rear fender (packin' mondo bondo), trunk
lid, check rockers at front.... $2 grand. And I know that would grow once
he stripped the Duetto naked and saw the ugly truth! "let me think about
it" I said. He had that "another-freakin'-fender-kicker" look on his face.
Did nice work. Some quite sharp cars in his shop and in the league of the
Duetto- no SUPER cars. I'm wondering if there are any resto shops in
cheaper areas of the state that do good work...
