Turning a Spider Engine

Octavian asks about turning a spider engine by hand. The easiest way I
know of is to jack up the rear end, put the car in gear and turn a rear
tire in the appropriate direction. You can get pretty decent
"micro-adjustment" using a low gear. It might be helpful to have the
plugs be out (or at least loose) to avoid turning against the
compression. I doubt that you could get the right size socket (38mm?)
between the crank pulley and the radiator.
