V6 EXHAUST STUDS/ SINGLE VS. DOUBLE CLUTCHES

Greetings!

Just an FYI. The exhaust studs on my GTV6 are 8mm X 1.25mm and about 4
inches long. This just coincidently happens to be the same diameter and
pitch as most of the hardware on Honda and Suzuki motorcycles. Mine do have
the brass nuts. That was the problem. The only threads remaining on the
studs were those that were covered by the nuts. The rest of the stud was
useless and brittle.

As for single vs. double plate clutches. I think the original reasoning
behind the double plate clutch is sorta the same as in motorcycles. Trying
to get smooth hookup while eliminating shock to the drivetrain. On a bike
dropping the clutch can land you on your backside. In a Giubo equipped
Alfa, over time in can shorten the lifespan of the drivetrain components.
The double plate clutch is more progressive in it's hookup. You can be less
subtle with the pedal and still not severely shock the donuts. The trade
off is complexity and expense. Also some drivers don't like the "vague"
hookup properties of the double plate and prefer the more direct acting
single.
