You might wanna try and run the rpms up a great deal (after properly 
warmed of course), for somewhat extended periods.  This should clear any 
crap around the valves.  Don't worry, you won't hurt it.  I guess this is 
the main purpose of the Italian Tune-up....

PS:  If you have an automatic, just put the selector in 1st or 2nd and 
you can run the rpms up like that.
