Have I damaged my water pump?

Hi all,
	I have never owned a car that required bleeding of the water pump after
changing the coolant.  My car was constantly overheating but I had to drive it
anyway for 2 months, putting approx. 2,000 miles on it.  It never got super
hot as I would sit it in the shade and let it cool off before continuing.
However, now that I know what I was doing wrong I would like to know if I
should replace the water pump as a precaution before I begin using her as my
daily driver again.

And yes I know that the head has to be bled also.
