Re: 750 Engine parts questions

Andrew,
The cams you have are most likely Normale cams. 750 Veloce
cams have a fat lobe and are stamped at the factory with an "E" .
The oilpan you have is a pan that Alfa supplied for a brief
period in 1959-1960 on all the 1300 engines. It was probably an attempt
to save in production costs vs the aluminum pans (2-piece Veloce and
1-piece Normale). It was used on Veloces and Normales both. With Veloces
it was used in conjunction with a special motor mount with a "built-in"
rubber bump stop to compensate for the tilt of the Veloce engine. The
oilpan was a miserable failure-it leaked from the pinchweld, and a small
bump from a foreign object did an inordinate amount of damage.Alfa
quickly went back to supplying the aluminum pans....Don't throw it
away, but don't use it on your car......
