1750 GTV idle problems - brake booster related?

This is a quick thank you to all those people that responded to my query
regarding the throttle lag on my 1750 GTV. Most people alluded to the fact
that their was extra air getting into the engine and that the carbies were
probably out of balance, although I was wondering about this as the car was
still idling pretty well.

Well after having a good look at it over the weekend, I've come to the
conclusion that the brake booster is possibly playing up. It seems as though
air is been permanently sucked into the inlet manifold through what I
suspect is a one way valve not operating as such in the booster (I've
replaced the vacuum hose which had plenty of cracks). I have wondered about
the brake pedal pressure at times also (some pulsating and slightly
increased effort).
I guess the question I have to ask is, Is it just a matter of pulling the
filter off to get at this valve or is there a lot more involved? It's a
Bonaldi Booster and was reconditioned about 12 months ago. The car is only a
single booster 1750.

Hopefully I'll get more time to look at it tonight

Thanks in advance
