clutch slave cylinder for Milano/GTV6 and starter problems

Greetings Alfisti!
The first message goes to Gary Stark, who's going through the clutch
slave cylinder replacement blues.
Gary, rotate the slave cylinder the bleed nipple on the up side, that
will allow it to bleed properly.Get a friend to pump on that clutch for a
while,I experienced this on the GTV6 I bought yesterday.I just went and bought
a new slave rather than rebuilding the old one;so I can't offer any advice
there. The clutch pedal took a LOT of pumping before I began to see any
firmness to the pedal, or movement on the arm.My friend cracked open the
bleeder screw and I pumped 20-30 times, all he saw was fluid and no change on
the clutch pedal feel.I continued to pump the pedal after that;after what
seemed like another 30 strokes on the pedal he saw a huge air/brake fluid
cloud escape from the bleeder screw. The pedal firmed up immediately and the
arm, which like yours had barely moved began doing what it should.Keep pumping
and don't let the level of fluid in the reservoir run out! BTW,MANY thanks to
rosso 75 for the help.Your'e a good friend.
My next plea for help concerns the starter on my 1984 GTV6.I was
going to terrorize the roads today, but when I cranked the car the starter
motor spun the motor and wouldn't disengage.I was advised it may be an
electrical short somewhere.I've never had this happen before and really could
use some advice on what to look for.I have the workshop manual, but I value
experience VERY highly. My wife is dying to learn how to drive a 5 speed and I
need to get the car going.(A few months ago,I posted for advice on how to
convert a GTV6 to an automatic for her.She took one small test ride in the car
last night and now she wants to learn how to drive the car.And I thought it
was going to be mine.................)
Many thanks to all for the posts regarding my car,the response and
advice/tips are great.
Thanks to all Alfisti,
