The tail dragging look Jeff describes is common in 105/115 coupes.
US-model GTVs from around 1971 onward did indeed have thicker spacers under
the front springs.  When new, the front end of these cars sat about 15 mm
higher than the world-model GTV's.  It's not clear, however, that this
difference is entirely responsible for the rearward rake we see now; non-US
model cars seem to do the same thing.  It's likely that the rear springs
have sagged after 25 years and need to be replaced.  While you're at it,
you can remove the spacers from the front, or replace them with thinner
ones (the factory supplied a range of thicknesses, which could be stacked
to achieve the desired height).  The best way is to borrow a factory spring
compressor, but you can make one out of threaded rods.  Be careful if you
do this yourself!  Front springs are dangerous and must be removed with care.
