Re: 105 wiper problem fixed

I have my wipers fixed and here is what I found.

I got an e-mail from Norm Riffle, who told me what the red, green and white
wires did, which confirmed what I already suspected that the problem was
either in the switch or the motor. Here is a synopsis of the wiring and my
troubleshooting. The red, green & white wire come from the wiper motor. The
blue/black, blue, & white/black go to the switch.

I meant to do this three days ago, but didn't have time, so unfortunately some
details are fuzzy. The wires come into the wiper at a sort of mini terminal
block. With the motor to the right and the terminal block to the left, the
colors are white (or green), red (certain) and green(or white) going from left
to right. There is a single lead from the left side that goes to one side of
the armature (I am definite on this also). There are two leads on the right
side that go to the armature, but I am uncertain whether they go to one or
both sides. One of the green wire leads goes to the same side of the
armature as the red wire according to Norm's e-mail, and I am pretty sure that
was the case. One of the leads was broken off the side that has two wires, so
I only had high speed. I resoldered it and everything was back to normal.

The red wire goes to the blue/black wire on the wiper switch. The white wire
goes to the white/black wire and the green wire goes to the blue wire.

The switch is wired as follows

Terminal 1 has no wire, Terminal 2 is the Blue/Black wire, Terminal 3 is the
White/Black wire, Terminal 4 has no wire, and Terminal 5 is the Blue wire.

In the off position, the following terminals are connected 1, 3, 5 and 2 has
12V

Low speed has 1, 2, 3, 5 and all four have 12 V

High speed has 1, 2, 5 connected and all have 12 V

I should also point out that my car has the "foot pump" washer installed,
because it has a wiring harness that is energized for a wipe when you pressed
to squirt the washer fluid. Disconnecting the plug disables the wipers.

My parking problem also went away when I fixed the wipers, as it only over ran
the parking spot when on high, which is what speed the wipers were on all the
time before I resoldered the wire to the armature.

I hope this helps
