Wheels for competition

When choosing wheels for competition make sure that the weight of the car is
on the hub and not the lugs. This puts too much stress on the lug and wheel
contact point and a situation like that described by the V-6 driver at Lime
Rock can result under repeated loading.
Lugs are nothing other than a retainer for the wheel and not meant to be  a
weight bearing component.
Some of the aftermarket wheel being offered as performance are just for show.
Look for steel inserts in the lug holes, snug fit at the hub and torque wheels
to recommended spec every time out.
