if lotus, why not alfa

a column article in a recent, domestic car magazine (can't recall the
name, though this month it has tips on vintage racing etiquette and
stiffening up cars) gives news that lotus had 'tentative plans' to
release the elise in the states and canada in '99.

it'll be on display by lotus at auto atlanta this coming weekend.  the
car's unexpected success in europe reminds me of that of a certain latin
cousin (er...156).  maybe after enough baby-boomers/genny-xers trade in
their slk, 300sl, and m3 (yawn!), or any other nice-but-boring-specimen, 
in for something interesting alfa will get a  - rather, another - hint.
