I have to come to Alan's defense.  

He was born in France and has overcome much of that misfortune.  Luckily, the
French tend to stay home or only visit places they  have miserably colonized.
The arrogance still comes out occasionally, but he used to drive Citroens
until the US supply ran out.  Now he drives ALFAs and is a big fan.  

Otherwise, I strongly agree with the comments regarding the business of
baseball, and the fun of it.
