Brake bleeding, all Alfas 1965-1994

Many find the bleeding of Alfa brake hydraulics a difficult and often
find the results less than perfect. I found the latest information
about the best way to do brakes of all models from '65 to '94.
Manual bleeding sequence, first do the right front and right rear
together. (open both bleeder screws) Then do the LF and LR together.
when bubbles stop, close the bleeder screws. Keep the reservoir full.
It's a good idea to use hoses to guide the fluid into jars or partially
full containers so air won't be sucked back into the system.
For ABS pad replacement, do not pump the brakes, and do not try to
force the caliper pistons back before you open the bleeder screw. You
want the fluid to escape there and not try do drive it back up into the
reservoir. Close the screw as soon as the piston is fully retracted,
then replace the pads. You're ready to travel. Don't forget to pump
the brakes after pad replacement before you drive off. Fred Di Matteo
