Oregon October Fun (sorta long)

The A-R Owners of Oregon Club is celebrating its 30th BIRTHDAY October 9th,
10th and 11th with an array of great events. Everybody is invited to join
us and attend as many of the events as you wish; we recommend ALL of them!
There are very low charges for participation; see and sign up at our web
site, http://www.alfaclub.org

Friday, October 9 we have the Weekend Kickoff Social at the Delta Inn, just
across I-5 from Portland Int'l Raceway. Begins at 7:00 p.m. with
registration, a reception, commemorative program and event dash plaques.

Saturday, the 10th, an ALFA SWAP MEET opens at 8:00 a.m. at The Import
Garage, 1800 SE Martin Luthur King Blvd. Saturday afternoon we have a RALLY
from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., laid out by the evil genius of the Northwest Classic
Rallye, Dan Sommers. This one will be around Portland and the Willamette
Valley, $10/car.
Saturday night will be The DINNER, PARTY, PROGRAM, etc. at a local Italian
restaurant. $25/person.

Sunday, the 11th, is at the racetrack. TRACK DAY, featuring hours of track
time on Portland Int'l Raceway, is open to cars of all marques (provided
they meet tech requirements) but this time, we will have an AUTOCROSS,in
addition, timed to allow track runs, too. Noon will see our popular FAST
TOUR LAPS of the race track, paced by a professional race driving
instructor, and open to such cars as Spiders without roll bars.

Additionally, weather permitting we will have on display the darlings of
Concours Italiano, Dave Rugh's 1981 Alfa Formula 1 car and Doug Klein's
Conrero Sprint, Denny Pillar's famous Giulia Vintage Racer, who knows what
from Bill Daemke, Doug Zaitz, and others of our prominent alfisti.

Our art work has been done by Bill Gillham himself (who also restored the
Conrero Sprint), our programs are being put together in a tour de force by
Keith Martin, editor of the Sports Car Market and all around expert. It
will be amazing. The more, the merrier, and we do get participation in our
events---so visit the web site, register, and bring your Alfa right in!

Ciao tutti,
Joe Cantrell
