Top Dead Center--101 Sprint

When changing the camshafts in my 1960 Sprint, I put a dial indicator
down the number one spark plug hole to verify that the TDC mark appears
in the center of the window in the bell housing, as it should.  Wouldn't
you know, it's an inch off--at the top of the window.  My recollection
is that there are 8 or 9 flywheel bolts, so the problem is not that the
flywheel is off by one bolt.  Anybody have a clue?  Also, can anyone
tell me the diameter of a 101 1300 flywheel so I can put new timing
marks on?  Thanks.
