Re:33 16V 'vs' 33 16V P4

Power is the same, = 133 hp (129 with cat). The P4 will weigh
something like 80-100 kgs more, allowing for extra bit of gearbox, an
entire driveline including a viscous centre coupling, and possibly
heavier rear suspension. P4 will be slightly quicker from rest to 40 mph
on a good surface, much quicker 0-40 mph on a bad (wet, extremely bumpy
or gravel) surface; and slower in acceleration above 40 mph by around
10%. Normal power sharing is 95% front, 5% rear, until you run out of
grip, which should be fairly easy in a 133 hp 900 kg car. I saw
extensive tests of the 4X Monte Carlo on different surfaces, and it
shone on the gravel compared with std 33, and these tests were with a
lowish powered 1.5 litre engine.
Choices? The P4 will be no slouch even at high speed, and will
be far more competant out of slow corners and on slippery surfaces. I
would think that the only downside is the added complexity of the extra
mechanical parts.
