IMHO a return to the fundamentals of driving is in order here.

1 Leave the car in gear (first or reverse)
2 Put on the handbrake
3 Cock the wheels so the curb stops it if it rolls, and if no curb then the
car goes in a circle and if it does hit something, it wont' have been going
very fast anyway as it will have begun immediately turning away from the
"fall" line
