Replacing 74 GTV fan motor

Anyone know how to replace the heater/blower motor in a 74 GTV?. I just tried
to replace my seized up one and got as far as removing all four outer clips
but could not get at the center clip against the firewall. Then when trying to
separate the two halves a smidgeon, I noticed an interior padded box between
the two halves which would prevent removing the lower half because of the
extremely limited space. Is there a special trick to this. Should one remove
the four bolts in the lower case first (three will unscrew but the fourth and
a rear one just turns around along with its bolt - I cannot get it off. Or
does one have to remove somehow the entire motor and case?
