I am so glad that someone else has brought this up, because I thought I
was the only person being ridiculed for holding the same opinion. Fred,
I absolutely believe, based on it happening about 3 times, that
uneven/overtightening of wheel nuts will cause rotors to warp. It
effects my ALFA75 purely in brake application at 80mph. I have never
had the rotors machined, yet the shimmy has come and gone when I
retorque the wheel nuts correctly, which makes me believe it.
Whether it can be extended to wheel bearings I don't know, however the
uneven torque could be enough to deform the case, causing uneven wear
and then failure.
Cheers,
david
